Ice Cream Party Day!!
To celebrate filling up our sparkler jar with 200 sparkly pompoms we had an ice cream party. We also dressed up. The theme was 'If I could be anything in the world I would be...' There were lots of very creative costumes. Our class book this term has been The BFG by Roald Dahl so this afternoon we watched the movie while we ate our ice cream sundaes. For our ice cream sundaes we could choose if we wanted chocolate or strawberry ice cream. We decorated our ice cream sundaes with rainbow sprinkles, jelly beans, pebbles and chocolate, caramel or passionfruit topping. They were delicious!
Room 2, I seem to have taken photos on two cameras today so will upload the rest of the photos during the first week of the holidays. Have a happy and safe holiday and remember to keep checking the blog to see what Tatty Teddy gets up to in the holidays.

Team building, gardening and the Morningside Amazing Race!
Last Friday Room 1 and 2 had an Outdoor Education day. In the morning we were put into groups to do some team building activities. One of the activities was called helium hoop. Each group was given a hoop and each child had to put two fingers on the hoop. It was important that we kept our fingers flat. Our challenge was to work together to get the hoop down to the ground. Something strange started to happen though! The hoop started to go higher and higher until we could hardly touch it anymore. This is why the activity is called the helium hoop. We worked out that we had to communicate with each other and move our bodies slowly closer towards the ground. The other team building activity was called Tangles. We had to hold onto two different people's hands and then work together to untangle ourselves. We all helped each other and learnt how important team work is. While some groups were participating in team building activities the other group was working in the garden with Ms Higgins. They even got to dig up some potatoes!
After lunch Miss Gentil had organised a Morningside Amazing Race for us. We were put into teams and each team was given an ipod. We used the QR reader on the ipods to scan the codes around the school. It was a similar challenge to our Easter egg treasure hunt. We had to take photos of each 'pit stop'. At the end there were prizes for the winning team. We finished the day with having a giant water fight. It was an awesome day!
Our Clay Creations
Last Thursday we spent the day working with clay. Ms Higgins is an expert with clay. She showed us a beautiful pot she had made out of clay and some other ornaments. We thought she was very clever. We were given some time to explore what the clay felt like and how to work with it. Ms Higgins showed us how to create a coil pot. We had a lot of fun experimenting with clay and making our own creations using the coil method. We left our clay to begin drying in Room 9. Then our clay will get fired at the quarry. We can't wait to see what everyone's final products will look like!
